Navratri (
Navaratri, Navratra) begins from tomorrow, Friday, October 8, 2010. Fortnight long
Shraddh Paksh (Pitri Paksh) has ended today. Ashwin Krishna Amavasya, the last day of he Pitri Paksh is known as
Mahalaya. Bengali people observe Mahalaya with great enthusiasm.
Hindu community paid homage to their ancestors during these days. Normally they do not organize any auspicious event during these days.
Navratri begins with joy. Hindu community celebrates this festival by worshiping
Nav Durga.
Durga Puja is the biggest festival in
West Bengal state in
India.
